JULIAN
WATERS, renowned British born calligrapher, will design an original calligraphic
text face and alphabet for the English text of Hanukkah
Illuminated. This face will be inspired by the shapes and styles of
medieval Hebrew calligraphy while incorporating contemporary stylistic
conventions to ensure ease of reading.
Julian Waters' clients include National Geographic and the U.S. Postal System, for whom he designed the Bill of Rights stamp, Love, and the Legends of American Music series. As a designer of custom fonts and design faces, his work includes the extensive Multiple Master family Waters Titling for Adobe Systems and a 100 page handmade Book of Donors for the National Gallery of Art. He has lectured and exhibited throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and Hong Kong.
